Grant DNA Project
Discover your connections!

Founded in 2004, the GRANT DNA Surname Project was created to help family researchers use Y-chromosome DNA to overcome genealogical brick walls, as Y-DNA is passed virtually unchanged from father to son. Within two months, the project expanded in scope due to international interest from Clan Grant and its septs. This evolution ultimately balanced broader research needs while safeguarding participant privacy.

We encourage all Grants to take part in this project as it helps grow a better understanding to the DNA lineages of Clan Grant for more information click on the links below for further information. Anyone with additional questions may contact us and we will help you.
The Project is hosted by FamilyTree DNA in which members can create an account to access various DNA testing kits that can then be submitted to the Grant DNA Project.

As Grants migrated throughout Scotland and abroad, the name remained relatively stable, though record variations appear in early emigrant documents, particularly in North America.
